One of the major areas of focus for the FWLC is engagement within the local and surrounding Ceduna community. A few ways the FWLC works within the community are:

  • Teaching and learning in a comfortable natural environment which incorporates Culture;
  • Community engagement to prepare language learning resources suitable to the present stage of revitalisation in each language;
  • Advocate and promote language awareness;
  • Assist community members to learn their language through workshops, training sessions and access to the language learning information and resources;
  • Expand the pool of trained community language workers;

If any local Indigenous Community members are interested in being Active Language Learners please come in and visit the centre to see what we are doing and also be included in the On Country Trips eg day trips, overnight or longer.

Engaging and advocating on behalf of the community is a major strength of the FWLC and to find out more about how the FWLC may help you and your community group please contact us on (08) 8625 3785 or 0437 686 539 or emailĀ us.
